Start your own

Start your own Pooper Scooper business and join our state wide network!  I'll help you.

Hello, I am Barry Wallett the owner of Doggie Poo Pick –Up LLC. I have been running my Pooper Scooper business now for ten years since 1999! I am looking for honest hard working people who want their own part time (to start) business. I will teach you to run your own pooper scooper business.  I will charge you nothing for this coaching.  I currently need to assign Pooper Scooper work in the Hartford suburbs. The reason I will teach you is because I need local scooper's to clean my customer’s yards. I will pay you $10+ per hour to clean my customers houses. At the same time you can market and develop your own Pooper Scooper business with my help, which will pay you at a much higher rate.

This will be your business, no royalties, or fee's involved. You get 100% of the income from your own business. The customers you find are yours. You benefit by having help and advice while you develop and grow your own business. I benefit by having, dependable, caring scoopers cleaning my customers yards. My customers benefit by having superior service. I my experience no one cares more about the quality of a job than the owner of the business. You can expect to spend approximately $100 for scooping supplies and copies to start. The supplies you purchase are not purchased from me they can be found at any Home Depot/Lowes etc... If you want to try scooping before you decide to start a business I will lend you my equipment for two weeks while you test the waters.

I am currently in the process of establishing a Connecticut wide Pooper Scooper Network(based upon demand a regional network). There will be a directory website established to advertise this network that you will be listed on (1TooMuchPoo.com, in addition our toll free number is 1 (Too) Much Poo ).

To protect all members of this network anyone joining will need to sign a non-compete agreement. If you are planning to start a pooper scooper business on your own and don't want to be included in the network, please don't pursue this opportunity.

If you research the business of Pooper Scooping you will find there are Franchises out there trying to sell you the information I am going to give you. The truth is it's not a hard business! In the case of a Pooper Scooper Business a franchisor is nothing more than over head, wasting your hard earned money. Having a route business explained to you and having a coach really is all you need, plus you can't beat FREE.

Some of the benefits of this business are:

  • Great part time business that grows steadily, I would compare it to farming versus hunting for customers
  • Work from home (low overhead)
  • Flexible hours - set by you
  • Year round business - clean all four seasons
  • Low start up costs(as little as $100 purchase supplies at any store)
  • Huge potential market of dog owners
  • Healthy activity – make money while walking
  • No hard sell – Customers call you to sign up, Really!
  • You never touch Poo! (Only your shovel and the bottom of your shoes during a misstep)
  • Hourly earnings range based upon how many houses you clean per hour. You should plan at least 2 cleans per hour and the average will go up closer to three as your route grows. The least income per weekly clean is $10, and this increases with more dogs and bi-weekly cleans! One weekly customer generates $520 yearly income minimum.
  • No fixed territories-grow your business as big as you like

If you start your Scooping business and building a client base then determine that this business is not for you I will purchase your customers from you, at a pre agreed upon price or you can sell your business on the market.

Qualities that you should possess:

  • Goal oriented-Starting a business is hard work, you need to get the word out by distributing flyers, and brochures possibly running ads (you choose)then you have to provide clear communication and quality service.
  • Tenacious-You have to keep your financial goals in your mind when you are tired, or discouraged, when it rains, or when it is cold etc...
  • Patient-This business can grow slowly, or faster in different seasons.
  • Nice person-You have a greater chance of success if you like yourself, dogs, other people, and working. You must not have a criminal record since you will be in customer’s yards.
  • Necessary-Driver’s license and a car
  • * liability insurance (Once you have your own customers, I have insurance to cover mine)

If you are interested in more details and information:

  1. Determine which towns you expect to be working in. Think about what towns are close to you and that you would like to service.
  2. Determine the potential for your business by calling the town clerk’s office in those towns and inquire if the list of licensed dog owners is for sale (it should be under FOI laws) and how many dogs are licensed. You will find thousands of potential customers.
  3. Estimate your potential earnings. One way is to look at my rates on my website(doggiepoo.com ), figure you can clean 2-3 yards per hour (depending on many things such as locations, number of dogs, size of yard, etc.) Think about how many hours you would invest in your business, then multiply out what you would make. For instance 4 hours at 2 cleans per hour at $10 per home would be $80, or 4 hours at 2 cleans per hour at 14 per home would be $112. This business is a route business so every week you would have that income. Also I used one dog in the example many homes have multiple dogs which means more income. A second way to determine your potential income is a one dog weekly customer brings you $520 annually.
  4. Determine how much time you are available to devote to your business weekly. The best time to scoop is at the end of the week like Thursday and Friday.
